2. What Data We Collect

Depending on how you interact with ContestDay, we may collect:

• Registration data: your name and email address when you register your interest or create an account.
• Interaction data: contest scoring, votes, follows, and preferences when you use the app.
• Technical data: device type, operating system, and approximate location — used only to deliver and improve the app experience.
• Payment data: if you purchase a subscription, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store card details ourselves.

We do not collect special category data (health, ethnicity, religion, etc.).

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Operate and improve the ContestDay platform
• Send push notifications about contests you follow (only with your consent)
• Contact you about your account or subscription
• Process payments for subscriptions
• Understand how the platform is being used in aggregate, to guide development decisions

We will not use your data for unrelated marketing or share it with advertisers without your explicit consent.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following bases:

• Consent — for push notifications and optional marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Contract performance — to operate your account and any subscription you hold.
• Legitimate interests — for platform security, fraud prevention, and aggregate analytics that help us improve ContestDay.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use the following sub-processors who may handle your data on our behalf. Each operates under a Data Processing Agreement and their own privacy policies:

• Airtable — database infrastructure for contest and user data
• Glide — app delivery platform
• Stripe — payment processing (activated when subscriptions launch)
• OneSignal — push notification delivery
• Anthropic / Claude API — powers the in-app conversational assistant; queries may be processed by Anthropic's infrastructure

We do not sell your personal data to any third party, and none of the above processors are permitted to use your data for their own marketing.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide services. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law (for example, financial records for HMRC purposes).

Anonymised aggregate data (e.g. scoring statistics, contest attendance trends) may be retained indefinitely as it does not identify individuals.

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in respect of your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based

8. Cookies

The contestday.io website uses only essential cookies necessary for the site to function correctly (for example, session management). We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies at this stage.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of the site.

9. Children & Age Limit

ContestDay is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contestday@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
